Full roof replacement · April 2022
A restored 1950s home in Portland, Oregon that needed a full roof replacement. It shows how we approach a real deck instead of assuming the worst.
Deck thoroughly inspected
We assessed the existing 1-by-6 shiplap deck before removing anything.
No unnecessary re-sheeting
Board spacing met the manufacturer's limits, so a full re-sheet was avoided.

Installed in Max Def Moire Black on a full replacement.
The existing roof deck was built from 1-by-6 shiplap boards rather than continuous plywood. Instead of defaulting to a full re-sheet, SA Roofing thoroughly inspected the deck first.
The board spacing met the shingle manufacturer's limits, so we avoided unnecessary full re-sheeting and planned to address only the boards that did not meet the requirement, case by case.
The replacement used CertainTeed NORTHGATE CLIMATE FLEX shingles in Max Def Moire Black. The project also called for careful work around tight areas, a custom driveway, and landscaping, with a pre-job conference and mobile dump trailers to keep the site clean.
